Short Squeeze Watch
Pulls the latest FINRA consolidated short interest report (days-to-cover, short-position size, change vs prior period) for US-listed common stocks, ranks by short-interest size, then emits a long-bias card only for names whose live price is breaking out (above the 20-day EMA with a 5-session return of at least +3%). Short interest is sticky, so its reporting lag is acceptable as the 'is this heavily shorted?' filter; the breakout trigger keeps the signal timely. Conviction scales with days-to-cover + breakout strength. Naturally produces more cards during squeeze waves and fewer in a calm tape.

A heavy short base is potential energy; a breakout is the spark. When a stock with high days-to-cover starts moving up, shorts can be forced to cover, accelerating the move. We require BOTH — a heavy short base (FINRA short interest) and live upside momentum (price above its 20-day average with a positive 5-day move) — so it's a squeeze in progress, not just a static high-short screen.
