How easily you can buy or sell an asset without moving the price. Major assets like BTC and SPY are highly liquid; small-cap stocks often are not.
Example
Selling 100 shares of AAPL barely moves the price. Selling the same dollar amount of a small-cap stock might drop it 5%.Related terms
